Benefit Perk Up Artist

Benefit Perk Up Artist is the perfect kit for those who want to correct redness, cover dark circles and brighten their eyes in a hurry or on the go. I’m a sucker for great packaging and mini brushes. Who can resist the colorful, catchy picture and title of this all-in-one “fix-it” kit? It is packed with three shades that all serve a very different purpose: Correct, Cover and Brighten as well as a small double-ended concealer brush.

First off: Don’t let the color of “Correct” scare you! Although according to old color theory, green counteracts redness, who really wants to smear anything green on their face (unless it’s an awesome eyeshadow). Shades of yellow are very effective in correcting redness caused by blemishes and blend more easily into your foundation. If you’re really in a rush and foundation isn’t an option that day, it is still better to correct a red blemish using yellow since you’ll be able to blend the corrector into your skin more easily. I recommend applying the yellow corrector with the included brush, but then blending it by tapping it into the skin with your ring finger.

The medium hued “Cover” in the middle of the Benefit Perk Up Artist kit does an excellent job of concealing dark circles under the eyes. This is truly a one-shade-fits-most concealer with a lightweight and creamy texture. Again, I recommend applying the concealer with the included brush and then tapping and blending it into your skin using your ring finger.

My favorite of all of the “Fix-its” in the the Benefit Perk Up Artist kit is “Brighten”. This is a great highlighter that is not at all glittery or too shimmery. Instead of emphasizing fine lines and wrinkles, it brightens and opens up the entire eye area. The best way to use this is too apply it with just your ring finger. Gently smooth some of “Brighten” onto your ring finger, then apply it to the inner and outer corners of your eyes. Blend well!

If you are new to the world of makeup, this 3-in-1 kit it a great place to learn about correcting, covering and brightening. Benefit Perk Up Artist is also an ideal kit for people who don’t like to wear a lot of makeup, but feel like their complexion needs something.
