Smashbox Photo Finish More Than Primer Blemish Control is the latest addition to the collection of iconic foundation primers made by Smashbox.  I cannot wait to try this one.  Here’s some info straight from the website:

”Banish blemishes! This perfecting primer treats breakouts, provides oil-free hydration and keeps skin clearer over time. Clinical testing showed women had clearer skin in just 2 weeks. Contains 2% salicylic acid.”

“Sensitive skin? We’ve got you covered! This primer is breathable, so you can layer it under your foundation without worrying about breakouts.”

This is kind of genius! Every now and again I get some clogged pores from wearing makeup that later become breakouts. The salicylic acid in this primer will gently exfoliate you skin thus clearing your pores of makeup debris. I want this!

Smashbox Photo Finish More Than Primer Blemish Control retails for $42 and is available at Smashbox.com.

Covergirl Flamed Out Shadow Pencil

Covergirl Flamed Out Shadow Pencil was added to my wishlist of drugstore products to try the moment I first heard about them. I was happy to find them at my local Rite Aid recently. I was disappointed that both locations that I visited only carried mostly neutral shades. No “Red-Hot Flame” or “Ice Flame” to be seen. At first I thought might be a blessing in disguise since I originally planned to purchase one of each shade. However, since I was only left with a selection of neutrals I only have two to share with you.

Covergirl Flamed Out Shadow Pencils are pretty awesome! They have a cooling effect when applied to your eyelids. This feeling persists for quite a while – at least 30 minutes! The texture of the pencils are super smooth and easy to apply. The pencils do not drag on my lids. The consistency applies sheer but can quickly be built up to a gorgeous semi opaque look.

As always, my pictures fail to do this these beautiful shades justice. When I said previously that having only neutral shades to select from was a blessing in disguise, I was wrong. Sheer back luck! Why? Because I want every shade of these! So the hunt continues online and in stores.  Covergirl Flamed Out Shadow Pencil will work beautifully as a base under traditional eyeshadows, as well as by themselves on days that you want to create a quick eye look.

As with most eyeshadows of a creamy consistency, these will crease if apply heavily; therefore, I recommend only applying them up to your natural crease. Also these set rather quickly. Once they set, they do no budge! Awesome, but work quick! Can’t wait to find all of the other shades!

Covergirl Flamed Out Shadow Pencil retails for $5.94 and is available at Rite Aid and Walmart.

Are you going to pick any up? What do you think of these? I would love to hear from you! Please subscribe and comment.

Rimmel London Show Off Lip Lacquer

012-7070504

Rimmel London Show Off Lip Lacquer has generated some buzz of anticipation online. When this liquid lip color was released in the UK it was called “Apocalips”. Here in the US they changed the name to “Show Off”. Due to the buzz this generated online, the moment I saw it on display in Walgreens I picked one up to see what all the noise was about. I hate to be Debbie Downer; however, I fail to see what all the hype was about.

Sure it has cute packaging and a nice selection of shades ranging from pink to red to nudes. Other than that? Nothing really stands out. When I first opened it up and saw the applicator, I thought I was getting ready to be impressed. The doe foot sponge applicator has a small hole on the flat surface that allows it to pick up more product for a more opaque application.

Upon application of Rimmel London Show Off Lip Lacquer I noticed that is has a smell. The smell is not overpowering nor is it the smell of perfume or fruit. It has just the typical (rather cheap) smell of drugstore cosmetics that certain brands have. The application is average. The formulation is essentially a liquid lipstick. Although this formula is lighter in weight than other brands of liquid lipsticks, it still feels slightly heavy on my lips. Also, I find that it leaves a bad taste in my mouth that grows more unpleasant with each passing minute. The only upside about this lip lacquer for me it that I really like the shade that I chose: 601 Light Year. It’s a warm, deep nude shade. However, for me the cons outweigh the pros. This is not a product that I will be reaching for on a regular basis.

I would like to say that Rimmel London Show Off Lip Lacquer is at least long-wearing; however, every time I try to wear it I end up removing it within a few minutes because it leaves a terrible taste in my mouth. I will be taking this back to the drugstore.

Rimmel London Show Off Lip Lacquer retails for $5.49 and is available at Walgreens and Drugstore.com.
