GLOSSYBOX April 2013

Another box full of goodies from GLOSSYBOX  this month. Let’s jump right in, shall we?

Alterna Haircare Bamboo Style Boho Waves Tousled Texture Mist is among my box full of goodies this month. Although I’m sporting a super short ‘do these days, I can still benefit from a texturizing mist that will keep my hair from looking so flat and boring.

Believie it or not, but I used to be platinum blond off and on for about a decade. One of my favorite hair care lines was “Dumb Blond” by TIGI. Although, I’m very familiar with their haircare, I’ve never tried their makeup. GLOSSYBOX sent me a baked blush in the shade “Brilliance”. Looking forward to trying this out.

Wash With Joe Coffee Mint Invigorating Bodywash? Hmmm. Sounds yummy… smells delicious. It reminds me more of chocolate mint. Looking forward to trying this out. Love being introduced to brands I’ve not heard of before. icon_smile-1224983

One can never have too many lip balms. The Honest Co. organic lip balm in “Purely Simple” has no fragrance and is packed with healthy organic oils. I just know my lips are gonna love this!

Oh, thank you GLOSSYBOX  for pampering me with Bvlgari! A white tea bag for my bath? Yes, please! When the dogs, kitty and boyfriend are snoozing, I’m going to steal away to the bathtub for some precious ME time.

In a recent GLOSSYBOX, a sample of the luxury day cream from Le Metier De Beaute was included. I was happy to see it again. The full size prize for this decadent skincare is $225. On the back of this postcard along with the sample is a special promo code that allows GLOSSYBOX members to get this cream at a discounted  price. $150 for a day cream is still a little rich for my blood; however, it’s still a nice gesture on their behalf.

All in all this is somewhat “small” box compared to previous boxes I have received from them. But as always the overall value of this month’s box ( approximately $54!) is greater than the cost of the monthly subscription fee of $21.

Is this GLOSSYBOX worth subscribing to? Absolutely!

Whip Hand Cosmetics Loose Pigment Eyeshadow Camo Collection

Whip Hand Cosmetics Loose Pigment Eyeshadow Camo Collection has been on my wishlist for a while. I finally stopped procrastinating and picked it up. If you are not familiar with Beauty Army or Whip Hand Cosmetics, allow me to make a quick introduction.

Beauty Army is one of many beauty subscription box services that has popped up recently. What sets this  service apart from others is that for $12 a month, you can CHOOSE the items that you want to try. You actually decide and know which goodies you will be sampling every month. If the current month’s selections do not appeal to you, you can skip that month without cancelling or getting charged.

It is through Beauty Army that I learned about Whip Hand Cosmetics. I even posted a video about my first impression of Whip Hand Cosmetics in October 2012. If you want to check that out, I’ve queued the video to start at that exact point: http://youtu.be/W3zA_TSXam4?t=7m4s

If you haven’t heard of Whip Hand Cosmetics it is most likely because they are an independent makeup company based in Detroit and founded by makeup artist Riese Lauriat. To spread the word about their great makeup for pros and novices alike, Whip Hand has made four  limited edition shades of deluxe size samples of their gorgeous loose pigment eyeshadows available exclusively at Beauty Army.

Their deluxe size samples made exclusively for Beauty Army are rather impressive. Don’t let the tiny size fool you; that’s $4 worth of product in there! I liked their deluxe sizes so much that I originally planned on purchasing the full sizes. They retail individually for $14. But then they released a limited edition keepsake tin that contained all four shades – FULL SIZES! The collector’s edition keepsake tin houses the limited edition shades Locked & Loaded, Green Beret, Special Forces, and Medal of Honor.

As always I am sucker for great packaging! It’s really impressive how much thought and care Whip Hand Cosmetics has put into the packaging and presentation of their products. I don’t know why I waited so long to add this to my collection. The price is really quite excellent at $42. When you break down the math that means the full size loose pigment eyeshadows are only $10.50 each (normally priced $14 individually) and the keepsake tin is FREE! Another bonus is that there is still room left over to keep a few other things inside of it. An eyeshadow base or eyeshadow primer maybe?

As usual my amateur photographs do not do this product justice. It is really a great ensemble! I will do swatches in a separate blog post to keep this from turning into a novel.

Whip Hand Cosmetics Loose Pigment Eyeshadow Camo Collection is available exclusively at Beauty Army and retails for $42.
