Ipsy Official Glam Bag May 2013
My Ipsy Official Glam Bag for May 2013 is pretty awesome! Several full items easily means that the combined value of this bag far exceeds the cost of the monthly subscription, which is a measly $10. Let me share what I got:
Yaby Concealer Refill in Honey (cc042)
Ipsy selected this particular shade of concealer based on the IpsyMatch quiz that I took when I first signed up for Ipsy towards the end of 2012. They have my complexion on file as being olive/tan. I must say they selected the right shade of concealer for my skin tone. This will work perfectly to conceal undereye circles when I don’t get enough sleep. Pretty impressive! I am looking forward to trying this one out since I have yet to try out anything from Yaby although they are a popular brand among makeup artists.
Zoya Nail Polish in “Gie Gie”
You can never have too many nail polishes. However, it seems that every nail polish I have received from any subscription service over the past few months has always been gold glitter or pink. This is still a pretty shade nonetheless – soft pink with silver microglitter.
Anastasia Mini Clear Brow Gel
Anastasia is the leader in everything brows. Since my brows are so sparse and rarely in need of brow gel, I won’t get much use out of this personally; but I’m very happy to add this to my professional makeup artist kit. I will use disposable spoolies to dispense this product on the unruly brows of clients who require it. Awesome!
Mirabella Colour Sheers Lipstick in “Posy”
Just as you can never have too many nail polishes, the same goes for lipsticks. I’ve been on quite a lipstick kick lately so I’m glad to be able to add another to my collection.
Pacifica Island Vanilla Perfume Roll-On
I love fragrance, but I usually shy away from anything vanilla-scented. I like vanilla, but I find it doesn’t smell nice on me. Bad biology on my end, I suppose. This note of vanilla has a very warm undertone to it. I went ahead and gave it a try. I actually like it. Right on!
Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow in “Space Cowboy”
(Limited Bonus Item)
I’m psyched that Ipsy sent me a limited bonus item. They sent this out to people who have referred people to Ipsy that resulted in new subscriptions, made YouTube video reviews of the products, and are otherwise active in the Ipsy online community. Urban Decay is my favorite brand; and I have had my eye on these new Moondust eyeshadows. I will post a separate review of this shadow.
All-in-all this is one of the best Ipsy bags that I have received. If they keep the hits coming, I will be subscribed to this service for a very long time.

LORAC GLOgetter Palette Swatches
LORAC GLOgetter Palette is an affordable limited edition eyeshadow palette that is available exclusively at Ulta and Ulta.com. This sleek palette boasts a combination of neutral shades with pops of color as well as matte and shimmer finishes. Here’s what it looks like closed:
Pretty, huh? Ok! Let’s do some swatches!
The swatches above were applied to my arm without aid of an eyeshadow primer. These shadows a super soft, creamy consistency that starts out sheer and builds easily to a semi-opaque finish. Since these shadows are on the sheer side, I will not be wearing them without applying a primer beforehand. Unfortunately, these shades do not have names (or at least they are not listed on the box or palette). The light cream shade that I swatched on the end right of this picture will definitely help the other shades to pop if used as a base on top of an an eyeshadow primer. I think this was LORAC’s intention and that is why it’s pan is one of the largest in the palette. Let’s take a look at the other shades:
Again, theses shadows apply quite sheerly but you can build on the color. As usual my pictures do not do these true colors of these eyeshadows justice. The royal blue on the left is brilliant! The soft almost mint green shade has a gold shift to it! Gorgeous! My favorite color in the entire palette. This palette although cute and has some winning colors will likely disappoint the majority of people who swatch it since the pigmentation is initially so sheer. However, for $20 this is still quite a steal. Eyeshadow junkies will want to get their fix.
LORAC GLOgetter Palette retails for $20 and is available exclusively at Ulta and Ulta.com.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pro’s Picks Lip Tar Set
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pro’s Picks Lip Tar Set has been on my Sephora wishlist for a while. Recently when I tried to place it in my online basket to finally purchase it, it was out of stock. I thought I had missed my window for this limited edition OCC set. The moment I saw that it was back in stock I ordered this without delay.
This is my first foray into the world of Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. I’ve heard only good things. 100% Vegan. Gluten free. Cruelty free. Extremely pigmented, long-wearing and dries down to a semi-matte finish. I can only confirm all of these reports in the positive!
OCC Lip Tars retail for $18 each and are always packaged with a mini lip brush to ease the application. I decided not to invest in the “Clear” Lip Tar that is recommended for priming the lips prior to application of other shades of Lip Tar so that I could test these out beforehand. Although the name, Lip Tar, implies that the formula may have a sticky or tacky feel, these actually go on super smooth as well as feel super lightweight on my lips. The provided lip brush is the perfect design for precise application.
For those of you who are on the fence about trying OCC Lip Tars, I think the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pro’s Picks Lip Tar Set is the way to go. Although $49 for this cleverly packaged set may seem like a big investment in trying a new product, the savings make up for it. If you were to buy these 5 shades individually at $18 a piece, it would cost you $90. They even through in an expertly designed full size lip brush instead of the standard mini that comes with individual lip tars.
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pro’s Picks Lip Tar Set includes the shades “Pretty Boy”, “Stalker”, “Vintage”, “Grandma”, and “Melange”.
OCC Lip Tar Swatches from left to right: “Pretty Boy”, “Stalker”, “Vintage”, “Grandma”, and “Melange
Swatching these heavily pigmented lip products have left little stain lines on my arm. You may need makeup remover to fully take off the darker shades. They apply super glossy and eventually dry down to a semi-matte texture. Highly recommended! I will be adding more to my collection!
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pro’s Picks Lip Tar Set retails for $49 and is available for a limited time at Sephora and Sephora.com.
